I suffer from terrible insomnia and Afghani is by far the best I've tried for this. Normal "couchlock" indicas seem to have very little sedative effect on me, but this Afghani stuff has managed to actually WORK :). All most of the other ones did was get me high and make me even more awake. Not Afghani. Took about a tenth of a gram 20 minutes ago and I'm feeling like I will be able to sleep tonight. No big, destracting "high", either. Very clear-headed and lucid. You feel that it is there, and it is intense in it's own way, but again, incredibly lucid and not scatterbrained at all. Perfect for studying. Highly focused.
The body effects, however, are QUITE strong :). I feel physically somewhat drunk, but in a pleasant way - no pukiness, impaired judgement or any malaise whatsoever like you'd get with alchohol, but extremely lazy, a bit sleepy, coordination is a little off, eyes are droopy as hell. Very mild tingling sensations - woah, a body buzz...cool :). I'm someone that can smoke just about any other indica dominant strain and get almost no body buzz at all, yet am quite sensitive to the mind-altering effects. Afghani is a perfect match for me. I'm ready to get some sleep and there's no craziness going on in my head. No trippiness. No anxiety whatsoever. This will be my insomnia medication for sure!
the first grow i ever saw in person was afghani. my first attempt to cultivate consisted of a silly little ol 150wtt HPS light , an afghani clone, and the bottom of a towel closet at the end of a hallway. this is the strain responsible for my love/lust/addiction to couch-lock inducing flowers. instant ADHD medicine. i just found an almost forgotten, gallon size baggie in the freezer that i'd originally gotten full of afghani BHO. Its freezer-safe plastic insides were COATED like a bukakke queen's face after a Peter North money shot. i've scraped up dab after dab until im partially deaf (its all good) and slumped over forward in my chair gazing at a pretty fair sized pile of cheeto dust that has formed between my flip flops (and pretty much all around me), and what was that i was talking about? aww, hell, dont even matter. gitchya some.

I was in the US Army for 3 years until I decided to come out of the closet for being gay I left the service. Anyway while I was in the army I was stationed in Afghanistan, and a few soldiers had a strain there called Afgan ( I'm not 100% sure if this is it or not) Anyway that weed made me really relaxed and sleepy. It was very good to get a nights rest if under shell shock or gunfire.
This strain was suggested to me based on wanting a pure indica. I learned that this is a landrace strain because it's named after the region it naturally grows in.
The batch I purchased came from World of Weed in Tacoma, WA. The grower was Triple T Farms, harvested on 9/01/2015 and packaged on 9/25/2015. I usually break a bud and inhale nice and deep to get the nose - it smells like a bowl of sunflower shells mixed with slightly wet hay and left to sit for a day. I know that's not a very appealing description but that's what I pick up. The buds are pretty crispy but I attribute that to the sealed plastic packaging (note to rec processors - glass jars work better!). I plan on using a small c-vault to cure a nug to see if the flavors develop.
I opted to vape for my first session and I was not disappointed. The taste was great, again reminiscence of sunflowers along with burnt popcorn on the exhale. Even though the bud is dry and crispy, it was not harsh with a desktop vape. The high had a slow come up, but was nice and mellow. I was able to coast off to sleep fairly well when it was time for bed. I don't get couch lock very easy, so others should head into this strain knowing that some say it's great for that.
I'm giving this a 4/5 because the indica effects were exactly what I was looking for. I just wish these rec processors could find a way to preserve the freshness of the product.
This is one heavy strain, let me say a little bit of this herb goes along way.☠
Very strong smell. A little leathery like Jack Herer. Sweet citrus notes, mostly lemon. An underlying earthy dankness. A bit of a Nag Champa hint upon tasting the unlit joint. Smoke is thick, pungent and lingering. Charges like a bull right out of the gate with a heavy stone and body high. This is a favorite strain of mine because of its ability to stamp out my muscle spasms and Sciatica almost instantly. It's one of the most effective strains for pain that I've come across so far, and far surpasses any prescription or OTC medication I've ever tried for inflammation. I highly recommend this for pain patients. Insomnia will not prevail here either. Also one of the few pure Indicas I really like.
A very old very, very pure Indica. The guy I used to get my old school hash from used this strain, getting back to school after lunch was always a challenge. The buds are dense bright green with lot's of orange red hairs. It's an amazing hash plant, the buds just drip resin. The smell is nice too very earthy and sweet have smoked this in flower, oil, bubble, dry sift, and finger hash form and it tastes fucken great sometimes there's this really cool slightly pine flavor to it but it really tastes like it smells, (which is good) . I find it to be highly creative and if you can smoke enough it, it will have you crazy glued to your couch. But in smaller doses it's really mello and highly relaxing with as I already said a huge bust of creativity. Deffinetly a later in the day strain cuz when this stuff starts to wear off there's a noticeable loss energy. Anyway I really appreciate this strain newer isn't always better and this strain proves it I love it and I'd think any Indica purists would love it. I've never grown it but I've heard it's a really forgiving easy to grow strain that's fast growing and from experience it is extremely resinous.
